Currently, Adobe Lightroom, unfortunately, does not have the ability to import the raw NEF file format for editing and processing.

The solution to this problem is the Digital Negative (DNG) file format, as it is a publicly available archival format for raw files generated by digital cameras. The DNG file format solves the problem pertaining to the lack of an open standard for raw files created by each digital camera model and helps to ensure that you, as a photographer, can open your files in software solutions like Adobe Lightroom.
